Ali Sayigh
Director-General, World Renewable Energy Network (WREN), Brighton, UK


The founder and chairman of the World Renewable Energy Congress (WREC) and the director-general of the World Renewable Energy Network (WREN), Ali Sayigh was born in Kufa, Iraq, and is a British citizen. WREN is a major non-profit organisation registered in the United Kingdom and affiliated to UNESCO. Established in 1992, during the second World Renewable Energy Congress in Reading, UK, WREN is an organisation dedicated to supporting and enhancing the utilisation and implementation of renewable energy sources that are both environmentally safe and economically sustainable. A graduate of London University and Imperial College London, Ali Sayigh is currently a professor at the University of Hertfordshire. He is the editor of several international journals, including Renewable Energy.
