Anatoly Adamishin
Former Deputy Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union; former Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom
Anatoly Adamishin served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR from 1986-90 before becoming Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation. In this capacity, he served in Italy and the United Kingdom during the 1990s. He was First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1992-94 and Minister of the Russian Federation for cooperation with CIS countries in 1997/98. He actively participated in the UN Commission of Human Rights, UNESCO and the OSCE, and is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Virginia. Ambassador Adamishin’s publications include “Fall and Rise of a Great Power” (in Italian, 1995) and “White Sun of Angola” (in Russian, 2002).
