Anthony Milner

Anthony Milner is Basham Professor of Asian History, Australian National University, Canberra, and a Professorial Fellow, University of Melbourne. A Visiting Professor at the Research Institute for the Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa (Tokyo) from 2006-07, he has held appointments as Dean, Faculty of Asian Studies, Australian National University (1996-2005); Raffles Visiting Professor of History, National University of Singapore (2002); and Director, Australian-Asian Perceptions Project, Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia (1991-94). He has written numerous data papers, reports and articles on Asia, and is the author of several books, including “The Malays” (Blackwell, 2008) and “The Invention of Politics: Expanding the Public Sphere in Colonial Malaya” (Cambridge University Press, 2002).
