Egill Helgason has been a journalist, newspaper columnist and television personality for more than 20 years. A pioneer in Iceland’s internet community, he has managed “Silfur Egils”, a website dedicated to politics and society, since February 2000. It is now the most popular blog in Iceland. His award-winning current affairs programme, also called “Silfur Egils”, is now in its ninth consecutive year. Egill Helgason is the winner of numerous awards in Iceland, including an Edda award for “TV Personality of the Year” in 2008.
